Our Fresh Eyes on Ice team joined with teachers, scientists, and knowledge-holders from communities around Alaska to learn about and get excited for ice monitoring. New team members joined from Nenana, Anderson, Tok, McGrath, Kobuk, and Arctic Village. Seasoned ice observers also Zoomed in from Fairbanks, Venetie, Noatak, Bethel, Shageluk, and Galena. Highlights included stories and insights from Elder Sam Demientieff's experiences on the Yukon and Tanana rivers and a dramatic ice safety demonstration from Allen and Chris on Cranberry Pond. This year's training workshop will be held virtually from November to May instead of fun, but intense in-person get together like we did last year in Fairbanks.
