Freeze-up and break-up on the Copper River, 2021-22

13 May 2022

This is our last freeze-up video and first break-up video of the winter. As part of the Fresh Eyes on Ice project ( at University of Alaska Fairbanks we are documenting ice phenology of rivers across Alaska . This is our last of 2020-21 freeze-up videos and first of our 2021 break-up videos because the Copper never fully froze up this year in our camera view. Accordingly this one is a bit longer. Thanks to Wrangell St. Elias National Park and Preserve for hosting this camera and Upstream Learning's students and parents for participating in local ice observations. You Tube link is here.
