Here the Kuskokwim River is shown from mid September to mid December 2019. The location is above the Village of Kwethluk where the river branches into Kuskokwak Slough. Bethel Search and Rescue suggested monitoring this area because of periodic thin ice and open water during the winter. Traveling the Kuskokwim River during the winter is important for the residents of Bethel and many villages along this river of western Alaska. See Bethel Search and Rescue (http://kusko.net/bsar/) for current information on ice and travel conditions.
